Misc Vintage Racing Clips

Would have liked to see some pics of the build. Wonder how he got the specs on the chassis etc. Unpainted body is a nice touch. If he painted it most people would think its fiberglass.

Good questions. He lived in Italy (a long time I think) and was tied in with the automotive industry. So must have had contacts. Museum cars for study maybe?

Edit: "Peter Giacobbi, an engineer by trade, hand-built his own 1959 Ferrari Testarossa. There are only 21 1959 Testarossa's in the world. A 1957 Testarossa was sold last year for more than $39 million." From Business Insider. They link the same video.

Wow, nice build. They even had fitted padding to protect the body.

No kidding, all I could think was big $$$$$$$$$$$. All those fixtures and that table!

When they assembled the body, I was guessing it was mostly aluminum, but don't know for sure.

With convertible prices and chrome bumper cars increasing in price....

Basically, they sell a 68 -69 rear clip with 4" flares and hardtop convertible conversion for 2400. Actually a good price when you calculate the cost of buying a hardtop, convertible windows, flares, etc. looks like this leaves the coupe t-tops and windows.

Tried to upload a photo but was too big. Actually, pulling off the rear clip to build a cage would make this a great conversion.

From YouTube
"The car is a semi light weight wide body same as the old le mans cars. The restoration of this car is to extreme standard and built in Sweden by my company Self System AB"

Pretty good demonstration of drag reduction.

Also shows why coast down testing allows you to evaluate aero drag changes.
