So it seems the little ONE thousand dollar Miata is a hell of a find....the silly thing has NO problems, believe it or not....needs a top....off ebay it's coming 200 bux....so are some other minor trim parts..got the driver front fender fairly straight, and in color, needs some urethane over it...the little bug is clean as can be, came with 4 new tires, new battery, hubcaps, radiator, ALL belts, and some very minor repair items....so I drove it to wife's work today, and swapped her with the Escort....she can drive it home....only a mile and a half.....;) unless she goes the LONG way.....

I can't believe how ANY car 18 y/old can survive and be SO rust free...

i'ts not perfect but a good 20-20 car actually 15-15....

most of all, little granny look good driving it....

:bump::goodevil:

I wouldn't start screaming there's no issues with it, you're jinxing it...before you know it it'll break down ;)

A miata....last I checked it's a........ JAP car :)

Yup, sure is, all the way from Hiroshima...:smash:

so she going to wait till the temp get up there, supposed to be 80 today, 50f now...and so I getting back under that Dodge truck and start in on the torque converter/tranny I get so pissed at Chrysler some daze...the fucked UP way they do things....500 bolts for a freeking WATER pump, 4 odd spaced converter bolts, instead of 3 on a triangle....stick the balance weights on the flez plate, not the converters....shit like that....

it's a '94 A518 automatic....I understand it's a terminal POS, but this one runs fine...so the questions are about finally FIXING it....I understand it's the electronics that give it greif, and the later ones were worse yet....apparently they went for a computer valve body all the way, like a 4L60e.....so the guts are fine, all the screw ups are in the valve body....

anyone know anything???

Check out LS1 Tech for Miata ideas...
If the engine goes bad, that would be a fun conversion.

The Miata site suggested that to me there, as my handle is the same....and so, I laughed and said with that conversion you get there 5 seconds before you left.....as the stock Miatas beep merrily passing you on the inside of the first turn......:bump::devil:

Haven't seen any numbers but in one of the conversion threads I read that the aluminum V8 isn't that much heavier than the cast iron 4cyl.... would only take a few weights here and there to balance the car...

:devil:Hear I went and bought her the car, I mentioned this thread, and she just jumped up and down, shaking her fist shouting NO!!!...which from her is a whisper.....:tth:

My wife has a 99 10 anniversary edition which came with the 6 speed trans and limited slip diff from the factory. The car sits on lowered springs and has a roll bar. She started doing track days last year.

For the money these cars can't be beat and just damn fun to flick the thing aound corners.

A guy from the Miata club/site sold me a set of wheels with FIRESTONE CRAP tires on there, the tires were brand new....07 mfgr.....still had the tits on them....

well the tires that came with the car were on the steel wheels, the 'new ones with effen Irestone were the stock daisey mags.....

I only paid 80 bux for 4 of them....so I swapped rubber today....another 65 bux...but now she has good round tired, not all bulgy and delaminating....I get to contact 'effin Irestone....about the crap, and see what happens....
something to do anyway...

so they styled/painted to look like the vette now.....sort of his and hers type thing....:p:beer:

Bought my sweetheart a Miata three years ago, besides regular oil changes/filter, and some plugs, absolutely nothing has gone wrong with the car. Nothing. True some vulture cut the car's top retrieving absolutely zip.
Mrvette, when you were checking out the Miata forum I hope you came across the significance of the "rain rail" along with the top. Apparently they have a tendency to fail, crack crumble,(Especially after 18 yrs) and on Ebay often the vendors do not include this item/seal, or even mention it's necessity. You probably came across this, just a word to the wise. A good buy in my opinion too, balanced so nicely, 28mpg or so, and great fun to drive.

Yes, the top came Thursday, and so went on Sat and Sun/yesterday...clown down the street wanted 500 bux PLUS another 400 labor for a Robbins top....right, more there than I paid for the CAR, almost....right....not happening....so 179 bux off the net and I have it on the car NOW....

Yeh, I been asking about this vibration/noise the car has at any speeds, i'ts directly speed related, and not engine, auto tranny, not accelerator related, the thing growls....like the diffy is loose....it's a open rear, going to try the drive shaft....it's not the greatest, but the driveline service guy said it's not that bad, doubtful any problems....CV joints in the rear are smooth, bearings are right....listened with a stethescope....find nothing....jacked hell out of the car.....right side....inconclusive....2 of us listening around....

noise there straight ahead, swerve left, gets marginally louder, swerve hard right, and it's gone.....

anyone with any ideas??
