There have been several guys hurt working around HEI ignitions. Picture this: doing a wiring repair under the hood- key is on, you found the problem and dig out your trusty soldering gun to fix the wire. You grab the gun off the bench, pull the trigger to get it nice and warm as you lean over the engine to fix that wire. As you get yourself into position and move the soldering gun into place, the engine starts, catching your shirt in the belts and pulling you into the fan. Not a good thought.

Here is an HEI dizzy, hooked to 12volts (battery charger) and a Weller soldering gun.
