Went to Autozone to get front wheel bearings....must have gotten lucky. They are made in the USA.:trumpet:

Yup.
I got my Timkin front wheel bearings from Autozone as well. It took two stores to get all USA bearings but I got em.

Hi

When I replaced my 68th rear wheel bearings, I used a spare bearing set I bought B4, being Timken made in USA , on one side and on the other side made in Japan bearings.
I guess I can let you know in 100 years which one fails first with the Mile amount I drive this car.

Anybody wants to bet ?

Rgds. Günther

Do you have the type number for me. Just found out there is a timken rep in the netherlands

1969-up C3 Front Wheel Bearing Numbers are:

Timken inner bearing: LM48548
Timken inner race: LM48510

Timken outer bearing: M12649
Timken outer race: M12610

Aha! that spells tech article...anyway, anyone have the numbers for the smaller outer bearing of 68 and earlier? What about the rears?

I have the 68 bearing numbers at home. I post them tonight in the tech articles.

We need to change the name of the article from C2/3 Rear Bearing Numbers to C2/3 Bearing Numbers

Rear bearings, 63-82
M-86649
M-86610
LM-48548
LM-48510

63-68 Front
LM67010
LM67048
Lm 11910
LM11949
Seal 18543

69-82 Front
LM48548
LM48510 these are same as the rears
M-12610
12649
Seal 19768

The quality of seals vary a lot, the Timkens sold in the chain also vary. I installed a set of these in a T/A a few weeks ago and found they opened up 002 in final install. Switched back to the more expensive Timkens I buy from a non automotive supplier and they were dead on perfect at 0015"
