Good Morning to all, I changed my pscv the other day and noticed that my pitman arm is not bolted all the way to the top of the gear box. I don't think this is right and am wondering if this caused the pscv to leak in the first place. None of my manuals covers this area specifically, any ideas. Torque it down or leave it alone?

The nut that holds the pitman to the steering gear is torquedd to 45lbs, and does not get anymore attention. It is a tapered splined shaft.
PSCV leakage is usually caused by overgreasing the ball joint within. It blows the seals out.

Jeff I think you left off the 1, the pitman arm to steering box should be 140-150ft/lbs

I stand corrected. Sorry for that. I looked it up in the book, and snagged the wrong one. Thank you for catching that.

thanks for the fast response. I am glad to see that I don't have to tighten it up to the box and the grease is good to know also. Thanks again.
