I have a 1982 corvette I need to KNOW for A FACT what injector size are on my engine FROM THE FACTORY?? I've researched this until I'm blue in the face!!! I've gotten soooo many conflicting answers on other sites!!! I know there staggered drivers side/passenger side, however I/ve been told 4 DIFFERENT things!! I dont need a bunch of part #'s just the lbs/hr on the inj's AND is the drivers side the higher psi of the 2 ?????????????????????? ANY FACTS will be GREATLY appreciated!!!!!!!!!!! I'm 55 yrs old been hot rod n cars/motor cycles since I was 14. One of my current projects is my 82 vette, its at my race shop [friends of mine] now & finished ready to install it's been dynoed already and back rapped in plastic. I got good results w/ the combination I used, yes I used the stock crossfire intake AFTER 20 hrs of PORTING got that intake to flow a lil better than a Holley Contender [on there flow bench]. NEED FACTS on inj size because I think I can squuuuueeezzzze a lil more out of it IF I HAD the CORRECT lbs/hr on the stock inj's????????????? Thank You.:banghead:

I don't have any '82 paperwork to tell you what you have, but TBI injectors used to have a color code on them at the terminal end, and I've got a chart somewhere in the shop that decodes the colors.

That's the limit of my ability to help at the moment.

- You can identify the injectors you have from the numbers stamped on them
There is a part number and a date stamped on the top of the injector.
Part number format: GM523xxxx*RPD, where RPD = Rochester Products Devision, xxxx is dependant of injector size and application (see table)
- Date format: xyyz, where x = month, yy = day, z = year (1=January, 2=Ferbruary, 3=March, 4=April, 5=Mai, 6=June, 7=July, 8=August, 9=September, O=October, N=Novermber, D=December) .
For example: 8202 = August 20th, 1982

Thats EXACTLY what I needed WOW!!Thank you VERY much!!

Besides my 82 vette which NOW has a fully built by me [except machine work] 355cid I also have a 85 regal w/ a 3.8 SFI-Turbo intercooled 87 engine & drivetrain, that car runs 10.56 @ 128mph in the 1/4. I needed that info on inj. lbs/hr so I can maximize the build on the vette using the stock CF intake [ported by me TOOK about 20hrs]to get it to flow what I needed [on a flow bench] using a Holley Contender as a baseline, I will NEVER port another crossfire intake whew!! I got the #'s I needed by cutting the runners down by 1" angle cutting them and going aaalllll the way through the ports, the Holley has about a square 1"-5/16 on the inlet and exits about 1"-11/16 x 1"-1/16. After aaaalll that work I got the CF at 1"-1/2 x 1"-1/4 inlet & 1"-3/4 x 1"-5/16 exit. Thank you very much now I know what I need on inj size [lbs/hr] to get the hp the rest of the engine will support. On the dyno w/stock inj's set at 15psi so far I've got 368hp & 388ftlbs[at the crank] I KNOW theres a lil more in it w/ a inj. increase, [trying for 375hp & 400ftlbs?] Until NOW I had TOO MUCH conflicting information to go any further, Thanks again Respectfully, Lance.

GN and GNX are fun cars, especially that '87 version with the turbo up front where it belongs....amazing what that silly 3.8 can take on the bottom end, and someone once commented it was first made in like '63 or so, without FI/turbos of course...just a common work horse....

:eek::smash:

Yes 86-87 are the same serpintine belt w/ the intercooler they rated the 87 at 10 more hp than the 86 HOWEVER they ARE NO different? Why the rated the 87 @ 10hp is a UNKNOWN ? Marketing trick maybe? ECM, chip, turbo, cam, all the same between the 86-87 models the VERY rare GNX did have a different turbo and some mods. to the valve body in the 2004R, and of course the rear-end / suspension was completly different than the T-Types or the standard GN. Still AMAZING what that lil 3.8 will do I DESTROYED a Dodge Viper repeatedly at the track!!! The guy WON'T even talk to me now????His HIGH $$$$$$$car against a lowly for the most part home built Buick!
