Anyone have exp removing the metal instrument cluster bezel in a 74.
I want to remove the black metal cover and paint it.
Also would like to know what is the best spray can paint to use on it.

Thanks

Your '74 should be like my '72, so take off the two cover plates up forward on each side, extensions of the main console, then to reach up and inside to locate the two nutx on the lower section where that bezel sets on the console plastic, if you can not reach them, you need pull the shifter trim plate and the HVAC control pack and reach them that way, there is two screws going laterally into the sides, and one up top into the dash, those are all easy and apparent, two more under the wiper controls going into the air duct....at this point the wiper controls fall in your hand.....

be careful with that main bezel, as the upper section is super thin at a point along each side, and it's very famous for breaking, and it's expensive....

when/if it breaks, the wiper switch will not work reliably so you need run a separate ground wire from the switch to the lower section.....
