well I had the same problem as everyone else with the HF bead roller way too much deflection of the arms which I measured at 7/16 of an inch when flanging 18 gauge steel. so i beefed mine up using scraps i had lying around the garage. the question i have before i finish all the welds is do i want any deflection in the two arms? currently i have less then 1/16 of an inch in deflection when i tried flanging the 18 gauge steel after the mods. i can easily add some more webbing at the end where the crank is between the angle iron but before i make this too rigid is any deflection useful? thks bob

Dug up an old thread, as I'm setting up a HF bead roller.

Any input appreciated. As expected there are lots of YouTube how-to vids.

I actually liked these mods.

I may also add a big dewalt drill and foot pedal switch.

I like the way you boxed yours with angle iron Bob77.

I have to roll some beads in intercooler pipes, and my tests on scrap show the HF dies leave a nasty cut/flaw as the die has a sharp corner. I think I'll throw it in the lathe and smooth that edge.

Anyways, while searching for others experience, I found this on skateboard wheels
