What temp thermostat is Chevrolet putting in the LSx series engines? Given that the engines are all aluminum, my first impression is that it would be a higher one (195 versus 180) to reduce the thermal losses from the cylinders. Anybody know?

thanks,
Mike

you were off by 1 degree LOL but I'm not sure either, that number popped up in my head but I could be completely wrong.

I was making up my final parts list to put my ZL-1 together this summer when I started to think about some of the detail issues like the change in thermostat temperature compared to the stat I'm using in the iron block engine. I'm building up the new short block, and then will transfer the top end stuff off the old engine. The suspension change and frame welding has been taking longer than I expected (lots of paint and surface rust to grind off the external and internal portions of the frame so I can get a decent weld bead on the brackets), so I'm running a bit behind on getting the engine done.
