Some 2 1/2 years ago we set out to see if a high performing tube frame C6 could be built to Grand Am Rolex GT rules on a club racing budget. We used a lot of short track stock car technology to accomplish our goal. The car was completed a few months ago and we have tested/raced her twice. (PBIR & Daytona). We believe we now have her working pretty well and will race a few more times this year in SCCA and the V8 StockCar series. Any opportunity to try a GA race will depend on garnering some help.

overview of the car:

* tube frame construction by Woody Wood at Bemco Fabrication
* gutted stock C6 body except for composite racing roof
* Schwanke Racing Engines LS6
* quartermaster triple disc clutch
* G Force 4 speed Tranny, Nascar type with LONG shifter
* Speeway Eng. 9" Ford rear end with Nascar chunk
* CCW classic wheels 18x12
* Continental racing tires as used in Rolex GT
* Penske shocks
* Brembo brakes
* Crawford Composites wing
* custom ATL cell

Some video of the Vette at Daytona: SCCA Daytona Classic

shot from Rodney Williamson's STO Cobra.

Start video at about 6:30 mark and you will see me come by chasing the 2011
Rolex GT Porsche of Dick Greer. No problem keeping up with the Porsche until I run out of RPM on the back straight. (wrong gear.....need a 3.00, had a 3.40) Topped out at about 160 with the 3.40, can make about 180 with the 3.0.

how about an up-date Bosco

Remember seeing your C6 tube at your shop in the early stages, car looks great.
Did you ever sell your c5 tube car?:fishing:

Bosco, looks like you finished before me. The car looks awesome.
I had an offer on my car but decided to finish it and run the car instead. Seeing yours done helps motivate me some more on mine. We just got back from VIR and that helps too.

Good decision, you have put in so many hours, can't wait to see it on the track!
