I was talking to a guy that built a car for the Grassroots Motorsports Challenge (I never heard of it). He did this in 2007 and the objective is to build the fastet 1/4 mile car and autocross with a budget of $2007. They built a twin turbo C4 Corvette with a snowmobile powered sucker fan mounted in the passenger seat, and won the event with Danny Popp as the driver.

Ahh - the Cheap-arrel! Only familiar with that car, not the Challenge.

Unfortunately there seems to be no "Clearinghouse" or web presence/location more or less centralized for the various motorsports activities. Where2Race is incomplete, SCCA and NASA are club specific, TrackTime and others don't focus on those types of coming events. Makes for a long Google search, and frequently missed opportunities.

If you find a better source for "Coming Events" - pass it along.

Cheers - Jim

There is a events search at Grassroots Motorsports that looks pretty complete.

The guy I was talking to donated the car to the Corvette Museum.
