Haha, made a thread in the general section about rules threatening our hobby, especially in the EU.

One of the mods thought bad language was used and it was off topic.

I didn't agree that and answered, directly below stating that : "opinions are like arseholes, everyone has one and they all stink".

He didn't like it apparently  Got banned for a month.

I will close my membership definately after that month.

The mod must not have voted for Trump then.:yahoo:. I stop visiting CF after it sold to the current owner. Too controlled, as you noted, and too many advertisements. They had videos embedded in the threads. Only troll for Corvette parts there because I do not know where else to go.

Wish there was more action here, where the members understand their cars.

Happy Thanksgiving.

George

Yeah, I used to post more and ask more questions, but my car is 99% finished and most questions I have are about FI or advanced engine tech. I frequent the ms forum or the speedtalk forum more for that reason.

However, technically this forum is more advanced when it comes to restoration/mod information specifically Corvette.

I haven't been there for years. I can't believe they are still so childish.

Apparently so. Don't go over there much either.

However, the trends of power-addictive mods with a trigger heavy finger is something I see on a lot of forums. If they keep up the good work, soon all of these forums will loose their public.

What you already see on CF is that a lot of the more experiences participants are leaving because of it and you get new members without any knowlegde advising other new guys on how to deal with things. Although some of them may actually know a thing or two, I also see a lot of BS flying around.

My vette is a '72, I"m age 72, my house was built in '72, sold Jan '73.....and I was married first time in '72.......

I realized this some months ago, think I should play the lotto???:shocking:

I have only been to CF, or Digital Vettes either, maybe half a dozen times in the last 5 or so years, and then only searching for posts about a specific subject. What bugs me about both those places is how fast a thread degenerates into yapping or arguing about something that has nothing to do with the original post. Too many people who talk too much just to hear the sound of their own voice.

And yeah, the ads & pop-ups annoy me too.

It may be 'dead' here as far as the amount of 'action', but the folks here are much more thoughtful, knowledgeable, able to stay on topic and willing to discuss rather than argue. And I hate crowds anyway. I'd rather hang out with a few friends in the garage and have quality conversation than go to a noisy crowded bar where you have to yell to be heard over the din of all the bullshitters.

Most of us on the street here are similar age group, and so we set around and visit each other outside when the weather is nice..... Over the years I have grown bored with car shows, even the Corvette ones.....last one was several years ago with a friend, had a hell of a time locating it, kept getting bad directions.....:surrender::eek:

Like I stated over on CF Gene, I really fear our hobbies come to an end. Certainly in Europe. We are looking at a very grim future. Right now there's talks about forbidding gasoline and diesel powered cars in 10 years. There is talk about forbidding gas and diesel fuel for home heating as well.

I think they are full of BS, but they have the polical power and they are condemning us.
And then even to think that some stupid people are cheering them and making them continuing.

And then the other issues : economic stagnation, mass migration from muslims and so on.

Really, I'm 47 years old. A lot younger than you are and right now I'm really wondering what do to with the rest of my life. Where this will lead to, what it will mean for our children.
I personally don't see a future over here anymore.

Belgian, I remember a thread like that, about end of the hobby, and surely I must have posted in it.....and unfortunately I have to agree with your observations, and the liberal/communist/enviro idiots are all about power and control.....easier to control a man on horseback or foot, than someone FREE to roam and has the power and influence in sheer NUMBERS to keep it going, so the commies/socialists/liberals chip away at us with all the bullshit schemes they can find.....that's MY take on the political :crap: and I not kind about it, dunno what anyone has read from my posts in various spots over the decades but I make Uncle Barry Goldwater look like a communist....nuff said......

do a search, he was '64 Republican Pres candidate and got suckered in on the sympathy deal involving the Kennedy ASSassination......long story and I spent 53 years in the Wash DC region, born there.....it's a one horse town, everyone depends on the .gov.....two ex wives in the region......arthritis/health drove me south to Florida almost 20 years ago, I not only a hotrodder for some near 60 years now, but was/still am, I guess a little bit into home/house repairs, major remodeling....foundation through roof, you name it.....same with cars a few 'resto' mods over the decades.....

thing is, most the guys who lusted after any cool car as a kid, either has one, or is not in the market or one reason or other, primarily age and $$$$

I just had a conversation with my wife a while ago...about the arthritis and my inability to do a whole lot because of it.....age 72 and it sux.....:censored:

This is very sad. I think the hobby has cooled here in the last 6-7 years. People have less disposable income than they used to. Also, people less than 30 years old have no love for old cars (or interest in wrenching on one).

In the last ~20 years here I have watched the decline of the car hobby also, but I figgered it was just the local economy, not any FLORIDA EPA shit....cause there is NONE....no inspections.....but yet...the hobby has declined a LOT, and there are very high rates for even family/commuter car repairs....shit they deliberately design to sell tools and crap, make it hard to repair....fighting it out with a couple of FORDS in the family right now....just stupid shit that has no right to be failing....like that Triton V8 5.4 gas engine, oil pump/pressure is zero...another one is the 01 Focus with the twin cam engine fighting that one this afternoon, hating every second of it.....
Praying I don't have to junk the damn car, OR worse yet...rebuild the head....

:cussing:

I have built houses, restored tractors, motorcycles, snowmobiles and cars. I have 4 adult boys. None have interest in mechanical "hands on" stuff. It used to bother me...

Wife is 65 now, has two sons, and a son in law.....younger of her two boys is a fully licenses HVAC mechanic, top of his class in FLORIDA when graduating his training, and taking tests.....he works on anything from houses to cars to, RR passenger cars, to high rise buildings...his name is Mike, same name as my HVAC mechanic buddy from up north, that was doing same thing, equally qualified...... Her older son HAD a window washing business, but with the downturn 8 years ago, all his beach clients started in with getting their own staff to do that job....so went from full time busy as hell to nothing in about a year or so.......Son law works with window washer son in the home remodeling trade, service calls for prop mgmt companies/investors/etc.....

I still barely working on cars, what with winter cooling off this north Florida region I find it a super PIA the arthritis is basically terminal to my doing a whole lot.....

bunch of small shit I need do on the '72 vette, but it gets ignored.....

:twitch::eek:

Want to hear the lastest shit our government crapped out :
- houses need to be energy neutral by 2030
- land cannot be bought to build on anymore starting 2025 (phasing out from that date, with total 0 land availability by 2040)

Jeeses, man, I urgently need to move out of here.

I dunno how in hell that .gov BS is going to work out, with the islamic invasion the food needs to grow and the housing need built.....on YOUR DIME I may add.....all sorts of news here, but not on the MSM channels like the networks everyone knows/heard of.....but catch the REAL news over the internet, the last free source of information......and the news here in NOT GOOD on the European front much less our own on that invasion....what say you???
