The mod was done in 1974 but now I want a fresh look. Plus the last paint was in 1976 (last photo) so that's getting done also. I've owned this '69 since 7/73.

Good thing you're changing the front clip, never was a fan of the datsun lights:) Are you going with the lemans blue again? Blue on blue with white top, awesome! A buddy of mine has a 69 vert that was original blue/blue. It's now poop brown/tan unfortunately :(

Not sure but did Baldwin Motion came up with that headlight mod?
I'd look closely for more on the car just in case it's a Baldwin Motion modified car.
My 2cents.
By the way I'm noot too crazy about the headlight mods either.

I agree. Those headlights appear to be the same as the Baldwin Motion phase 3 cars had. They were probably also available for purchase. Certainly worth a closer look.

Well, its got other emblems like "Phase 3" and "427 SS" on it? :suspicious:

Nah, gotta be honest with 'ya, it's probably the same piece and was done by a place in West Babylon, NY which is about 15 miles from where Motion was located. In 1974, there was an article in Hot Rod magazine about Corvettes and they mentioned the place. I was supposed to get headlight covers with the job but that's another story. If it was a real "Motion" car with one of their motors and all, I would keep it that way. I liked the piece till about 5 years ago, then it started "getting to me."

The place you are talking about in West Babylon, NY did offer that part as well as the "stacked" 427 scoop hood and back window that you see on the Motion cars. I do not know if they made them for Motion and unless you can find someone who worked at the West Babylon place you might not get the whole story. Mr. Rosen was an artist at re-packaging parts and would lead the customer to believe that they were doing all of the work on site. I know that alot of the kits were installed by cutting out the factory piece and bonding in the new GT headlight section. I am a big Motion fan and look for all of the little things that big $ collectors sometimes miss. I would love to have some dimensions off of the part that you are taking off. Or if you would like to sell it, I would be interested as well. I would love to put that type of headlight in my 10.5 drag car project.

Is he by any chance working for NATO ?

:crutches: finally, as of last weekend - the winter slowed things up a bit. Didn't figure on having to do the inner fenders:crap:
