I suspect the injectors fire down stream and had to be oriented correctly....
when doing the old Caddy system on my Pontiac 455/462 on the '70 'Goat' convertible years ago, I didn't know the injectors had to fire down stream, and so had the TIG'd injector mount aluminum pads drilled so the injectors were straight up on the manifold, and it ran like crap, the only thing that gave me any clue as to what was rong, was the bottom of the manifold was WET with fuel directly under the center mount throttle body/airvalve....I finally decided to change the angle of the injectors so they were damn nearly 45* off vertical, firing downstream.....ran like a charm from then till the computer died, some 7 years later....
I can't see why any mechanical system would be a whole lot different.....
