Does anyone know how to disconnect a stock alarm system in a 74 coupe.
I have had this Vet for 8 years and never set off the alarm until yesterday when I put a new fuse in for the lighter and turned the key to start.
Sounds like it is working off the stock horn.

The easiest way is to disconnect the horn. The horn is under the driver side rear quarter panel behind the wheel well. Not easy to get to disconnection the horn will stop the noise!!!

This is just a shot in the dark but I believe the 74 has an switch on the driver side front quarter panel to the left of the STINGRAY emblem. If you have a key that fits and turns that "switch", that may be your solution.

Possible cause - one of the alarm switches - front doors or under the hood - may have gone bad and is shorting.

Good luck.

Hi,
The switch by the front fender was removed when I had the care painted.
I will try and disconnect the horn under the rear fender as you suggested.
Thanks,
Jim

Either the switch is still inside the fender well in the engine bay somewhere, or the wires are an one of them shorted to ground, setting off the alarm.
