how do you guys break the bonding areas on the front clip

heat gun to make the bonding material softer, then, like TT said hammer and chisel or Belgian said wooked wedges.
any method will work, but I took mine off using heat, gun works very well.
Dont use any flame source,

I used this pictorial site as my guide. Wish I had known about heat gun.

Thats exactly the method and pictoral I used, but used a heat gun to soften up the bonding stuff.
Without the heat, it will work just as good but theres more chance you'll damage the fiberglass when the parts separates.

I think that somewhere in his forum Tim uses heat gun, I think he made a little vid about it, I used that to separate the rear section of the body to release the birdcage after I took off the front clip and firewall.

Very good pictoral by Tim.
He has great tips and I like his work.
Too bad he isnt too much here.

The heat gun softens the bonding material considerably. You will have a lot less likelihood of damaging the smc is you use one.

Be really careful when breaking the fender bonds by the doors. It's really easy to split the bonded seam of the fender to the hood surround if you're not careful. Ask me how I know. :hissyfit:
