I've been cleaning up/modifying/lightening a used Edelbrock C396 manifold to put on the '69. I removed the two water nipples at the front of the manifold without breaking/stripping anything (thankfully!), but the coolant bypass nipple (that plumbs to the water pump) has me a bit perplexed. After spraying/soaking the fitting for a few days, I "unscrewed" it and removed it. Once I got it out I noticed it had no threads, and neither did the manifold. It's just a 5/8" OD nipple that was pressed into a 5/8" hole in the manifold (although the nipple is about 3/4" OD where the hose connects. Best I can see the current manifold on the car, a C396 also, might have this same type nipple).

I see two options: Find a similar nipple (where?) and seal/install that, or drill and tap the manifold for a "normal" pipe nipple (don't really want to do this).

I'll check a parts store for one of these nipples, but have any of you guys encountered one of these "odd" nipples before?
