Well, so it seems Linda is wanting to tour the country, and so it looks as if we bought a cheep camper van conversion....cab over on a one ton dualie chassis...supposedly a 400 SBC engine 400 tranny....so the question is...

what would it take to convert to diesel??

I thinking of running FI on it, have the parts for a TPI, unless the diesel is easier....

if I told you all any more about the thing, you all would laugh your asses off...

OK... seriously now........ do the math and see how much it is (or would be) if you just drive a normal passenger car at what ? 26mpg average ???? and then stay in a Motel6 sorta hotel along the way.... I really have a hard time believing that the hotel option is a lot more expensive, especially because you do not pay per person....

Everyone of those camper vans I've seen gets crap for mileage. Wind resistance and weight just make is miserable. Diesel is a little better, but a diesel in a van is just plain ugly. If it breaks, there's no room to get to anything.

And don't be fooling around with that TPI you have- I'm going to give it a new home.:hi:

Well, I guess it depends on who get to it FIRST, now, don't it???

I know all that about the 'economy', my problem is Linda just will NOT let go this dream, she wants a camper, period....and I dunno why....I rather like the 33 mpg Escort and nights in Motel 6, local grease and go for food....

but like everything else....she has her dream, so WTF, if it collapses due to costs, it does, so to keep the costs down at the junkyard level, and I can always back out and recover .....at least then she sees the truth of the shituation....

:kissass: to the one who has to remain happy, after all, she does the cooking.....

:1st::devil:

Two things come to mind here....
First, You want to keep costs down - what's wrong with just running it the way it is?
Second.... we just gotta see some pics of the new Clampitmobile

Trust me on this, you really don't...ok??

found out tires are going to run 750 for 6 of them....great....

doing a cut list on proven costs for a possible fix up....but for 200 bux what the hell, figger to sell the engine for that alone....

especially IF it's a OEM gen u INE factory 400 sbc.....supposed to be, but well, I need look up numbers....

Gene, Try Tirerack.com for tires. I just bought a pair of Kumho's for my '99 Club Wagon for $150.00, shipped to my door. I have been dealing with them for about 2 yrs. now and am very pleased with both product and service.

How about a 33' Terry fleetwood tt I know where you can get one for a good price too.:stirpot: You just have to come a little north to get it.
