This is one of the very few things that I have farmed out to have someone else do for me. Im glad I did though because I dont think I could have done a nicer job so far. My goal is to have a simple roll cage just for my personal safety and chassis stiffening. My car is on street duty 90% of the time so it has to be very tight and unobtrusive too. I dont plan on racing in any events that require a cage but when I do open track days I like it for my own peace of mind. It is based loosely off of SCCA specs. Very pleased with how its coming out so far...

Sorry for some of the crappy cell phone pics

Here is how its bolted to the frame...
1.5" long .75" chromemoly slug threaded for 7/16" bolts with a 3/16 washer welded to the frame
(rear bars get 2 bolts, main hoop gets 3)

All 1.75x.095 chromemoly. He said he was able to remove the entire rear hoop + rear legs from the car so it will be fully welded by tomorrow so I can paint everything outside the car before it goes back in. Then I get to take the car back to my shop, pull the motor so he has front frame access and get started on the halo, a-pillar bars and dash bar. :yahoo:

Very nice job.
while you're here wht not putting some reinforcing gusset/rib at the mounting plate, this area seems the weakest point.

I wish I could say I welded this... Got the car back tonight. Front half is 90% done. It is only 6 points and I dont like how long the front down bars are with the amount of bends they have. I wanted to get it done enough where I can assemble the interior and get the car back on the road and then figure out the best way to get a bar to tie in the side of the frame at the kick panel.

All of the dash pieces fit around the dash bar too... Tight, but they fit!

somebody did an impressive job with the torch and wire..... TIG is awesome, I used to be pretty good at it but it's been a while...... damn, these pics make me want to buy a new welder.....:trumpet::trumpet:
