I found this picture of a (vintage racer?) that has a front steer rack and pinion and crossram intake.

Anyone have an idea what it is?

notice what looks like a Corvette C-3 windshield frame and part of the birdcage used to mount what also look like C-3 door hinges.....The front cage squared off is the Bob Riley design similar to the later model SCCA Trans-Am & GT-1 cars....I bet that thing would be a hoot to drive.....

Thats the JLP corvette, a full tube frame greenwood car. The crossram is a kinsler crossram with lucas timer metered injection, that's about 20K worth of induction right there. This car is my #1 all time favorite :)

Here's a LARGE pic :D

The front is not squared off, it has a laid down radiator and an extractor hood. This is the full chassis

If you look at Larry`s original pic you`ll see it is squared off in front, everything you see in your pic is to hold the rad, cooler and bodywork.....if you look at the latest Riley designed Trans-Am chassis (this one used by Tony Ave in SCCA GT-1 competition) http://www.tonyave.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=2354
you will see what I mean, Riley`s newer tube cars use alot of square tubing throughout the car....opposed to a car like mine or yours that are all round tubing.

I know, the whole front section (rad subframe) bolts to the tube chassis. I thought you meand there was nothing in front of what you saw there,.. :) my bad :clobbered:

They use the square tubing on the extremities outside the rollcage, that's most likely done to make those sacrificial structures in case of a crash, like a crush zone. The square tubing will crush easier than the round.

when you look at the Tony Ave site you`ll see only the cage is round tubing as per the SCCA rules, pretty much everything else is square....lots of similarities between this old Greenwood chassis and the new style stuff Riley is designing....the frame is basically flat from front to back with no kickups.
did everyone notice what looks like air jacks mounted at the rear in this pic?

Yes, the front ones are just in front of the firewall, you can just see it in the pic above. I had a lead on some a while ago, they were AP units. Came with threaded tubes that could be welded to the frame and this the height could be adjusted. I decided they were pretty much useless to me.

Double a arms w/ coil overs front and rear. The only thing corvette about that chassis is the windshield frame.

that was pretty much normal for IMSA.....I believe there were some Porsche`s that were wilder than this thing......as I remember John Paul and JPjr drove some...sponsored by his "business" the T-Bird swap shop.

Yes, I know, there are more tube cars on the greenwood site.

The JPL 935 Flachschnauzer Porsches had exactly the same blue/yellow paint scheme as did his T600 Lola.

Here's a drawing of the 935:

I thought JP Sr. was indicted on drug charges a long time ago and beat the rap and then was in trouble around 2000 for the same. Seems like I heard that the feds were at a race with a warrant for his arrest and he never showed.

Looks like drug money will buy you a nice car:D

A sailboat and a monthly trip to South America = no sponsorship money need,,,:2nd: until the agent was waiting on the dock........

Dope or no dope...that thing is SMOKING :twitch::1st::bounce:

Here's the greenwood frame with an internal assist box. I like this so much better than the hackjob by corvette steering. I know..I know, theirs is a bolt in kit but this is in relation to the pics of that vintage racer build. With all their fab skills, surely they could have come up with a clean install like this.
