BBC Heads

I looked at the 315's- numbers look good, but the full CNC steps the bucks back over 3k. I'm going to do the 325's as cast, CNC chambers, all parts. I need to check, but I may have to drop back to the full "as cast" heads. From what I have read, the CNC thing jumps the chambers to 121cc- too big.

As cast is USUALLY fine. You could always smooth the chambers if you want. Yes, 121 cc is too big. 115 to 118 is what would work with your combo.

This 496 is shaping up fine.:drink:

Still great low end.

Moved the intake lobe center line from 107 to 110 left the LSA at 112

Very interesting. I went to a dual plane intake with the dual quads and it jumped to well over 600 ftlbs tq at 2000 rpm. Of course it lost some HP up higher.

The AFR 325s come with springs good to .750 lift and 255 lbs seat pressure.

You could go quite CRAZY with a cam here.

I know the way "I" would go, but this is "YOUR" engine.:pprrtt:

Let me know any other cams you have in mind.:amused:

IF someone else has a suggestion, feel free to jump in. I REALLY don't know everything.:D

I see a pattern here.

This cam really doesn't like the dual plane intake. That's what I thought at first, but once I had the grind numbers--things look better.

Maybe not, but you sure are a tough act to follow:)

:loveletter:Gee, Gosh- I try the best I can. Thanks

Just keep going with this one:bounce: I am watching what you come up with...I may get tired of my BB tope end in a couple of years and look back at the results of Tims new engine for ideas:D

What cam do you have now? What is it you are thinking of doing in the future?
Give some engine spec--the more detailed the better.:friends:

Tim:
All of the first numbers ( all cams with AFR 325 numbers ) are done with Single Plane Dual Quad intake- Offy type.
All the Dual Planes are done with a Edlebrock Style Intake Dual Quad. If you use an Air Gap Dual Quad the numbers would be closer to the single plane.:bounce:

Hey, don't forget the over 55 mph penalty tax. That 10 cents per mile.:smash:

Hey, looking a some of Comp Cams (remember I'm not a fan) Solid Roller grind numbers I found a couple of them that look good. You want some number on these??

Remember a Solid Cam will idle smoother and with higher vacuum than a Hydralic Cam of the same spec.:skeptic:
