1972 BB Water Pump

Yesterday I wanted to install my water pump.
While rotating it it made a horrible rattling noise. I tried to flush it but it is still there. So it is time for a new one.

Is there a "useful" upgrade possible? HD, aluminium, reverse flow etc? I'm not switching to electric.
