Anyone got an L88 style intake?

Years ago when I did my LS swap, I put on a "temporary" flat filter intake. Plans were to make sort of an L88 style since I have an L88 hood.
Well it looks like it's going to be a cold winter, so a project in the basement is in order.
So can anyone tell me how big around the little screen cage is in the middle of the filter base? Is it just the carb throat diameter?

Last I knew, the wire mesh carb contaminant protectors were sold by paragon; ie. the wire mesh would prevent large objects falling into the carb.

The air cleaners, that fit into the L88 hood, are still available also I think.
