Over helping my welder buddy fix his backyard fence the last couple daze, and so some of the guys are playing out of Jax NAS....

right over his house....sideways, totally AWESOME......

tons of fun, and I"m SO freeking jealous....

still think they could finance the entire .mil budget by selling rides on the cool machines, air, sea, land, ....

guys lined up across the nation....

I wish I could do that for a living...ha. I just do it with my R/C aircraft.

An old friend up north worked on Navy drones, or R/C aircraft, some 25? years ago, he got paid high bux for playing with model aircraft......

Obviously his work was spoken of in cryptic language, but being a bit of a tech head, I could ask a few questions and fill in the blanks...

saw him a couple years ago, and he admitted his work was early phase of today's warfare....interesting....

I met a neighbor guy into r/c helicopters he was flying one around the street as I was leaving jobsite....that was fun to watch....

:D:D

The 2010 competition is coming up the end of April in Lakeland FL.
Even if you're not into RC, it's well worth it to go from a design and engineering standpoint. Amazing stuff. One of those things that's worth seeing if only once in a lifetime.

They used to have it at the Polo Club in Palm Beach, but one of the jets lost it's radio signal and went thru a condo's living room window. The jets go up to 200mph.

A good friend of mine has been RC pylon racing for years. I believe he held the lap record a few years back. I think those planes are 200mph plus and they turn on a dime. First time I saw it, I couldn't believe the wings didn't fold up.

I just saw a video of one breaking up on Youtube.
The turbo jets turn 175,000rpm.

I think the FAA or someone limits them to 200 mph etc.

Here is the size of one if someone has never seen them fly. The pilot's skills are incredible.
