How about a LS motor w/ 50% cylinders...as in V12...

Yep V4's- from the leftover LS they are chopping up...


Welded two part crank, holy shit :eek:



"Most of the cylinders are on 45 degree centers, with four cylinders on 90 degree centers. The crank has the inverse firing order on each side, front to back/back to front.

We are utilizing a 90 degree block instead of a 60 degree block. This is the only other practical solution other than an even fire crank. It should be a wicked sounding V12 that's really a cross between a v16 and a v8"


I hope they use loctite on the rod bolts....
 
I read the thread over at ls1 and still not sure how some of these parts were joined. He mentioned furnace welding (the way aircraft engines are welded together).

I think the crank is bolted together. Counterweights are made into mating flanges.

That is really an incredible build there.
