I have been doing 8* BTDC. What do you guys do? This is a BB.

Thanks
Wade

It's all moot until you know what your max mech advance is and then start running from there, 34-36 all in at about 2500 rpms. Check out the Tech section for tips.

Just get the engine turned so #1 is at TDC (or close) drop the distributor in so the rotor points at the #1 plug wire and go. Should be close enough to start.

Then go back after it's running and warm and see where the total advance ends up- like TT said- 34-36 TOTAL at 2500 with no vacuum.

I'm running about 40* total at 3000 but using VP110 fuel has it's perks too. :)

Thanks guys. The wife helped me out tonight and I dropped it in right on 8* BTDC. I did follow Lars paper on the initial setup but thought I would see what others were running.

Thanks
Wade

Gotta LOVE a woman who drops it right where it belongs....

WoW this was a first for me!!! On first try the distributor dropped right in correctly oriented to point at the #1 cylinder!!!!!

Was gonna crank it today but it is snowing again!!!!:hissyfit:

when I did my 90's L-98 I turned the damper to 6 degrees BTC and lined the distributor up with the #1 so my tach and power wires that plug into the cap were straight across.
