The kid they fished outta the Indian Ocean....how do you all feel about her attempt at circumnavigation like her older brother did??

as parents/ as kids/ as ...well, whatever....

:flash::bonkers::beer:

I'm not a parent myself but every Dad I've heard is expressing WTF? I'm not letting my 16 year old drive, sail around the world?

Parents are different these days. Money helps shift the equation.....:bonkers:

There some 16 y/o's that are responsible enough to do things like this while other 16 y/o I wouldn't let watch my dog. I don't see a problem with it.

If you look back at history, 16 years old was an adult, I remember my mom tellimg me she was working in a factory at 13 to support her mom because dad was at war,

if you look further back, in the 1800 a lot at 16 had allready 2 kids and another on the way.

Diffrent t time diffrent way of thinking.

Not your nowmal 16 year old. She has spent half her life growing up at sea. I appreciate someone her age who knows what she wants, and gets off her ass and does it. Kudos.

News reports her father sold her story to 'reality' tv...does that change anything??

Nope. Gotta have a sponsor for that kinda trip.

I don't know why she did it anyway. She would have been the fourth teenager in less than a year to do it. She (and her "sponsor") got more publicity for her misadventure than if she would have completed it.

I beleive her parents own a yacht brokerage company...........hmmmmmm.

I seriously doubt it cost 300k to rescue the kid.....the salaries/wages paid the people involved were to be paid anyway, so maybe the fuel cost...that's it....

:harhar:

I Agree

Her father came forward and said the family was broke. It seems he's more concerned about her not finishing than her health. When the boat broke down the first time, that should have been the end of it.
