I am getting antsy for another project. Can someone tell me the correct engine id suffix for the 71 LS5 454 and 71 LS6 454? I may have found a good candidate.

I'm just trying to find a suitable project. Found an 01 Z06 totaled but complete drivetrain so considered another restomod. But now have a line on a numbers matching LS5 71 vert project with most everything there and needing paint.
What do you suppose it's worth in this state? He says the frame is rot free. It's close enough to go look at so will if I feel it's worth it. Your opinions?

I am not good with prices. But its worth what ever you want to pay for it. sounds like a great project. Watch e bay and you will get an idea of what they might be worth. I think a #LS6 Would be worth a lot more.

If it's numbers matching prob about 9-11, got mine for 7 but it has a CE block and my frame is phucked. Then again things aren't the same as they were a year ago so prices are dropping on all of them from what I've seen.

If you really want to have some fun, find a block with XCH stamped into it. I know where there is one. And no, you can't have it.

I was assuming it needed complete restore, not just paint. If it's a driver or close and just needing paint, I agree it will be alot more than 11.

Not yet. The original 454 is out of the car and stated as freshly rebuilt. Picture shows it on an engine stand. Body looks good in the pictures. Alot that has to be seen by the eye and in person...I'll let you know if the viewing pans out.:thumbs:
