Just finished putting the rubber scrapers on the front underside of the baffle under the nose of the 81. Is there supposed to be some kind of support in the center? It seems floppy and droopy just sitting, can't imagine it under aero load.

It's all new up front and I never had the baffle before. Thanx in advance, Steve

Steve, IIRC there is kind of a metal finger that comes off the brace up by the license plate (you know, that thing you hit on all those parking curb things) that goes back and supports it. I think most have broken off by now from running over crap. In my case I made a "big mouth" scoop thing and suspended it with struts off the crush bar.
When are we going to get together and compare notes?

Thanx CD,

I have a bunch of heavy grind marks on the bottom there so I did wonder if something should've been there. In addition, the rubbers have a notch in the center to clear something so I must assume there was a factory support. No evidence of it in the Assembly manual however....

I hope to have this thing back on the road soon, that would be a fine excuse to get together...Steve

Can anyone point to a picture of that support?

Does the baffle typically show up on driven cars or am I smarter to toss it before the road rips it out? :flash:

Thanx CD, That's a cool pic. It looks a bit like stamped sheetmetal and I'm pretty confident I can do something nicer. I will fab some support for the center before our shakedowns.

THANX IMMENSELY:yahoo:

Thanx for all of that!! I suspected there was a support but had no idea. Now that I've seen what's right I think I can fab a more delicate and tasteful support.:toothbrush: Ooh, how I flatter myself!

I will be sure to build something for that before I get on the freeway....

Thanx all...!
