90 evaporator core in a 82

Here is another question I have. However I am unsure of evaporator core thickness. I want to transfer the entire a/c system from my 90 vette into my 82 vette. Obviously all lines and relocated receiver dryer will be located where it is on the radiator shroud of a 90.

Anyone know the core dimensions of a 82 and 90 evaporator?

I usually do not ask this but: WHY? When a C3 system is done right it gets very cold inside the car

Aren't you just replacing an R4 compressor with an R4 compressor? Why go threw the trouble?

No everything under the hood of my 1990 vette will be going on my 82.

basically everything you see here

will be replaced with this. Thats why all the odd questions.

Ok I was thinking that the C4 used the R4 style compressor like the 3rd gen Camaros. The connections for the compressors looks about the same in the pictures, is it? Either way you would be better off to keep the C3 evaporator and have a hose shop make the lines the right length to work.

'87 was the last year for the R4 compressor in a vette, '88+ used the later import unit....that is what I have on front of my engine....serp drive and all....

with the '72 evap and valves in stock config....condenser too, and 134 , i'ts good on cooling, but it IS a convertible in Florida after all....:cussing:

I would but this is now a 134 system and it blows ice cold. on a 90 vette the whole system can be removed from the car without disconnecting anything and once the c4 front frame section is in place all the lines will mount exactly like they do now. My 82's system has been open off and on and wouldn't want contaminents in the 90 system from the 82. You have to understand that I am even going to try and put the 90 cooling capsule and all in my 82. So last thing I want to do is mess with a/c lines and stuff if it isn't needed. I know the c3 evaporator case splits in half like the 90's so if the evaporators are the same size then that will simplify things for me.

A quick flush to the 82 evaporator, hook it all up, pull a vacuum, add oil and 134a. Sounds very simple to me and at around $10 a pound for 134a you can't say it is to expensive.
