MLS multi-layered steel with a very thin synthetic rubber bonding the layers.

I'm trying to decide between these and copper the next time i do heads.

I've had it with composite (cardboard) head gaskets.

Couple weeks ago I did a head job on a 2.0 single cam Escort engine for a friend, and the head shop used Victor Reinz so I ordered it from them, and in the box was this German made head gasket....constructed like above....first time for ME ever seeing one like that...workes fine so far....I think the one on my wife's Escort, same failure, was a Felpro typical Blue....

Okay, I went down to Connell and got a factory set, The ones specified for the motor. Going to pull the heads, change the lifters as I am in there.

The NAPA store up the street changed ownership, and the new guys will only give me a AAA discount. Now I keep 5 cars running, I should get the fleet discount. And the speed shop on Lakewood Blvd is just a bit too far.
 
Gave a call to West Coast Racing Cylinder Heads today. We are going to try to reduce the runner width to get a better fit and match between the Heads and the Intake. Risk is over heating the aluminum when welding. Breaking loose the headers over the weekend then the heads can come off. Balance of top end is removed already. Miss-alignment is very clear from staining.

Just an FYI for those with an interest in newer LSX motors.

Heads at the shop today. Boy Resida is a long hall form the OC. 4 weeks turnaround. Custom work. George
