I’m a lover of Nature, Plants & most Animals. There is nothing like watching these animals grow & return to the place of their birth each year. Last year I filmed 11 baby Wood Ducks in my yard next to the wetlands. These birds are monogamous & pair for life. Directly next to my house is a 300 acre Nature Preserve Park where I stroll with my dog Sam & these babies are new to the neighborhood.

I enjoyed watching the baby birds pecking away in the grass. Birds..some people say they are a species that evolved from dinosaurs, other people claim that they are a species of dinosaurs. I tend to think the latter. Anyhow it's nice to watch these birds, babies and parents, enjoy their swim and later excursion into the grass. These animals have been carrying on and behaving like this for probably up to what ...100 million years? (Dino's, other than birds, disappeared 66 million ago). Also, these animals, given the small size of their brains, can display a relatively lot of intelligence. Many people speak surprisingly of how birds can make very good pets.

Buying a house next to a nature reserve!! What a good idea.

Wife does fairly well photographing various birds in the back yard...even a few humming birds....but not as good as some various vids of same that been round....and we see a LOT of ducks around all the various drainage/settling ponds here in Florida, much of the land is swamp and so when the plows come through, they did out a large pond for the fill dirt to make houses/etc on.....

we have a bird sanctuary on bottom of the hill maybe 500 yards down, maybe 30' elevation....basically sea level....go back in there you maybe find your maker...Mr. Alley GATOR.....

seen a black snake up on the front lawn today, but it was just a totally black snake, with no colors....about 3' long...saw a cat from far away....but ROOFIS cat was aware of her shit.....

fun watching mommy nature figger shit out....

Moron that I am - I bought it because it had many garages - 2 under house & 4 detached. In truth, I did not know this fabulous feature's entrance was literally at the top of my driveway. My dog Sam & I are regular visitors now. It is a such a relief from the pressures & current events in daily life. As a former Biology teacher, I've always loved animals & plants, but Corvettes have occupied much of my past 3+ decades of occupation. The former is now winning over the latter. We'll all go back to nature someday.

Now I'm getting philosophical.

I didn't know there were any nature preserves in CT.... first things that come to mind when somebody mentions CT is factories, industry, smog and crowded places.... not trees and lakes or creeks ... that said, I've never been in CT..... cool video....

I fear these baby geese are dead now.

Last Friday the police were using the range they have within 100 feet of this small lake. There was constant gun fire for hours ostensibly from their use of the range: from pistols, rifles & automatics. I suspect they regularly hunt in this "nature preserve".

Saturday a cop stopped me as I was entering the forest & said that there armed uniformed National Guard troops in camo uniforms & not to be alarmed. I asked him it this was Homeland Security or what since this was the first time in the 17 years I've lived at the entrance to this 300 acre "park". He claimed that he did not know and was merely following orders. Since he didn't say I could not enter, I walked to the lake & saw 8-10 in camo with M16 march down the Red trail that leads to Beaver dam lake. Two others lounged near their unmarked long body van. They were also in camo with M16. This is a first: military exercises in this city owned (not state owned) park. Made me think of Posse Comitamus (sp?)

I haven't seen the parents they may have flown off & abandoned the 5 chicks. Since the chicks wings were too small to fly I doubt they could escape. They were also too small to bob into the water to eat the underwater vegetation as their parents do. So as in the video they probably came on shore to eat & got taken by the coyotes that I regularly hear, have seen even photographed in my driveway. Or the foxes or the hawks. Or even the cops.

The video I uploaded to utube just prior to this one was in reference to the cops & their friends shooting in the forest at dusk & when their "Forest closed Range in Use" sign is not even deployed. Around this past deer & turkey season twice uniformed cops came to my house. Once they said I was harassing hunters - and from my yard. I politely told him he was FOS. Days later 3 Black & Whites came & accused me of stealing a hunters camera strapped to a tree where he had placed a corn trap for bait. The one with a canine said he had tracked a scent to my property line from where the camera was stolen. I politely told him he was FOS & asked him to show me where his dog tracked the scent - and asked him to ID my property line. He refused & they left.

About a week later I heard from another neighbor that the cops arrested a 60+ year old guy down the street who had taken one of a cops camera's - and that cop wasn't even from this town - he was from Shelton, CT hunting near my property. They handcuffed this old guy & took him to jail. The local cops had 2 of their cops hidden in camo gilly suits staking out a $50 camera that the out of town cop placed in the woods. Half of them aren't worth a crap in my view & the others are just padding their retirement. Most of the cops I've met do not fit this mold & I have several in another town that I regard as friends.

The former Stratford police chief (now in Richmond) had a 67 teal/teal 400 coupe 30 ago & was my former customer & I helped him contact the previous owner, Carl a friends who was a florist I knew in Westport, CT. Two years ago I went to see this Chief about a crosswalk ticket I got 15 minutes after it was issued by one of his lieutenants, He made me wait about 1/2 hours & then this prick made believe he did not remember my business or name or my helping him. Incidentally I did not even go thru the cross walk, but my tires screeched on my 1956 Corvette as I stopped. This CS also made believe he didn't know about the characteristics of the wide white bias ply tires on my 1956. I said why do you think cars have anti lock brakes today. Someday that CS will want another favor & I'll return the favor. My lawyer got it reduced to contribution to the PBA for $500.

I've looked every day since for the 2 Canada Geese & the 5 chick but they are missing.
