Bird, are you coming back here...

John,
I cannot make my summer trip this year. However, I leave tomarrow for my 3rd Chicago trip this year. National Resturant Association show at Mc Cormick Place.
I sprang for a ticket for Mrs. Bird this trip, so we can spend a few days together after the show.;)
About in the middle of June, the bird nest is getting a complete makeover. I am pretty sure we are reusing the roof. :eek:

Bird, I guess that means kitchen, baths, and what else?? moving walls??

if so, that is what Linda and I went through finishing up maybe 5 years ago by now...course it's NEVER actually ever done....:smash::smash::lol:

Yep. Believe me Gene, it's long overdue for this old house. I have to due it before I get much older, and have to farm all the work out, instead of doing most myself.

On a good note, I just paid my lowest utility bill in years. All this energy star crap pays off afterall.

Yeh, I not sure just what I told you on my place here, I went water/air on the HVAC so the waste heat is sunk into well water and then irrigates the lawns/gardens...manual control on the areas....all our interior shit was done about 5 years ago, except we still messing with the kitchen ceiling....on a time available basis, no killer push....not up for that shit no more....so I feel your pain there on getting it DONE before you get tired....

you going wild like I did or going mild??

:lol::suicide:

Well Gene,
The floor plan is reversing, so I would hve to say "substantial.":D

Well Gene,

:D:D:crutches:

I wooden say reversing, but I should send you some drawings of the crap this house been through, you wouldn't believe it....

not just ME< but previous owners too....

the OEM dining room was directly behind the laundry/utility deck in front of the cars in the garage....behind that was the dining room/part of the kitchen...the old kitchen is now a living room along with a 4th bedroom....now a 3br house....all this by p/owners....

then there is me, who went industrial on the joint....300' addition out back for an apartment off the old master bedroom rented for 4-5? years then after Linda and I married, we went to remodel this joint...out the back kitchen doors we recapped a slab and poured another one off the addition, making a U shape out the back on the slab shape....over one slab we put a atrium, a FREE for the help tearing it out of another house....all aluminum and glass roof/sides....tiled the floor, another FREE sliding glass thermal pane door off another customer....then the kitchen....went KRAZY....steel supports in the ceiling/trusses to buck up the framing....as we blew out a bearing utility wall making the laundry inside, moving the HVAC to a pedestal out in the garage, in front of Linda's Miata.....then we redid both bathrooms, the hall bath grew a 6' oong 42" wide hot tub, and torn out a small framed in useless closet....replaced by a cabinet construction like I did in my house up north....much more room than some stupid sheetrock built/framed thing with a 18" door... reduced the depth of a hall closet, no need to store WINTER clothing in a FLORIDA home....but it's still a 'formal' hall closet...still unsure WHY, just is....

the joint was replumbed, and rewired when a line xfmr was knocked out by a tree during a storm so in went a new 200 amp panel from Square D....
30 circuit, and too boot some piggybacks STILL.....

all the aluminum single pane windows replaced with hurry caine rated vinyl plastic thermal LO E glass

now a daze I just wander around following all of Linda's suggestions as to what where....

ten years last Feb 28th....don't seem like it, but she wanted some stone for our anniversary....4000 lbs of it, to landscape the back yard.....

and a month's worth of slave labor....mazing what guys do for short smiley faces....

:hi::crutches::D

Plans?? We don't need no stinkin' PLANS.....

seriously though, wife/I sat around the table for about a year, going back and forth about various designs....she with her graph paper and little cutouts for each item, we finally decided on a plan, and being a old kitchen mechanic, I layed out the boxes, built them installed them and about a year later she bought the doors for them.....this is a 1600' house NOW, we reframed/supported the roof, moved the bearing utility wall about 6' to the gasoline ledge/garage, brought the washer/dryer inside in it's own hutch, and chiseled the floor for gas and phone/electric to the new island....it's ~8' long with stove in middle....island range hoods are super HIGH in price last I looked....1300 bux was the cheapest one around.....so I went to a aluminum operation, had them cut up to my patterns, took it to my welder buddy across the river, and he TIG's up a range hood, we go to a internet decorative metal supplier, buy some cutsies to put over it, and so it looks factory total cost....400 bux....including roof vent flying saucer fan...and ducting....
I made the counter tops, went to Wilsonart for the Formica some shop for the MDF underlayment,
tiled the floor, Linda don't like the floor tile, tough shit, I ain't friggin' changing it NOW....
