if you are referring to the roughly 1 inch thick Black sponge rubber in a weird pattern of less than a sq ft - it is a sound deadner - in convertibles, most often it gets wet, then get a funky smell & gets thrown away

decades ago I actually ordered then from the GM parts book & considered having them made after GM stopped supply - but nobody ever knew what they were or thought they were needed because they are hidden behind the trim panels

I cannot show you how they fit, but I recall they were shown in the assembly manual in the front of the book where the lock pillars are shown blown apart for assembly.

Only 1 potential problem, the assembly manuals often have a generic or completely inaccurate drawing of some parts. This is what fools most that are new hobbyists - and old ones too because they think the assembly manual must be accurate - and believe me, it is not.

The real joke is that a large portion on the sacred NCRS manuals are merely some dupe regurgitating inaccurate info from the assembly manual. They call that research. Happens all the time. There is one forum on Vetteheads specifically dedicated to the inaccurate info in the 1963-1964 NCRS manuals. I don't write it, but its over 100 threads long with 100's topics for just those TWO years. Caveat Emptor.

thank you very much.i'll use my own sound deadner now

I've forgotten how it fits but I went through the same thing. Play around with it in various positions and you will figure out how it goes.
