I saw a Nova painted Black Garnet Pearl and fell in love. Does anybody know the source for this paint?

Dunno. Maybe House of Kolor? They have some wild colors. Cool, but wild.

A quick web search for "Black Garnet Pearl" and it came up as a Toyota color, code 3Q2. Don't know if that's what you saw though. Sounds like a color I painted my last 81. I painted it 4 coats of straight black, then on coat of black with just a touch of red pearl in it. Then 4 coats of clear...really loved that color....may do this car something like it....

Unfortunately that was long ago and far away! The only pics I have of that car are the old fashioned kind that you hold in your hands!! I scanned them but the car only looks black in the pics. I can tell you that the edges of the car would "glow" a dark red in the right light, particularly late in the evening. In the direct sun, you could just make out the red pearl. I'm talking myself more and more into painting this car!!!!

Okay, this is what I did, please remember, I wasn't then and I'm not by any stretch of the imagination an expert, but I was very pleased with the results!!!
It was in the late 80's so, first I took off all the old paint using stripper, a putty knife and block sanding. Then used a fiberfill primer block sanding and respraying till it was straight. I'd spray the primer, then fog it very lightly with a can of black spray paint, and sand it again to make sure it was straight. To get the edges clean, I'd never sand on the edge itself. For instance, for the edge on the top of the front fenders, I'd sand up the side of the fender and off the edge, then on the top of the fender towards the side of the car and again off the edge. This helped sharpen the edges.
Once all the sanding was done, I used a product called Centauri 2000. It was expensive then, about $200 a gallon. I color sanded the last coat of straight black, then added the final coat with the pearl. The red pearl was in a small 4oz (if memory serves) jar. All we did was use a stir stick in the pearl, let the paint quite dripping off the stick and then stired the black in the paint gun with the same stick. Not very precise I know, you could just see the pearl in the black in the gun, and we shot the last coat. The clear was also Centauri 2000 sanded and buffed. At the time, the Centuari was supposed to be the new "Emron".

Years ago when doing lacquer jobs, you would put the last coat on very wet and the shoot a thin coat of pearl or flipflop in different colors made by "MetalFlake". The also made the flake stuff.
Then you would just cover it with enough coats of clear to sand smooth and buff. The pearls were cheap, like 12 bucks a quart.
My closest paint jobber now handles similar stuff, forgot the brand, but at a whopping price of $275.00 for a HALF pint.
