This one is for the other project car... We think the motor is toast in my fathers '55. My father is already set on a new motor, so Im helping him explore some options.
Ive got a lead on a D1SC Pro-charger... Im thinking just get a forged, low compression crate 383 and boost that. BUT we are looking to get into the 600HP range, so Im assuming the needed boost for that power range will need some kind of cooling. Methanol injection would be cheaper and easier, but does it provide similar results to a decent (air to air) intercooler?

go with a air to water intercooler. Its much better. My air intake temps went down by about 100 degrees when I used one.

Not really familiar with the methanol systems but Marck raises a good point. If you have a tank to supply methanol for cooling, how long does it last? Even if it lasts a long time, are there problems with storing methanol fo a long time? Also, if you are running EFI, seems like methanol injection would make fuel mapping difficult.

It depends how big of a tank we would use... I dont think its that big of a deal to fill up a smaller tank every time you fill up the regular tank. The 50/50 mix is pretty cheap and available at almost all gas stations.
It would be on a carb'd motor too.

Use an air to air intercooler. The vehicle has plenty of room and you will never need to worry about meth. running empty. I run a D1SC on 20 lbs. boost intercooled with no problems. Either way, build a fully forged bottom end.
