Bought a 16' Tahiti Jet Boat. It has a SBC in it, I was told it's a 350. Not so sure though.

I found these numbers on the block:

Big numbers:
13GM
3892657
Small numbers on the deck.
VOII3MT
71 136308

So help me out, 327? 4 bolt? Hp? Car and year of origin?

Don't see any number on the heads. It's a shame too because the motor has been wrenched on, the heads might have been swapped. They are iron, I can tell that much. Where are the casting numbers on the heads?

It has MT valve covers, an Edelbrock dual plane, and the worst tuned Edelbrock carb in the history of carburetors. Haha. It's so disgustingly rich I can't believe it even fires up. Sounds like it might have a cam too, but it's so loud in the garage it's hard to make out the idle note. Fires right out of the water logs.

The chart I checked shows it is a 295HP/350 from a 67 Camaro. Before you get too excited, let some others check the numbers too. Pull the valve covers to find the head numbers.
Also, there is no 38892657, only 3892657. Look again.

It's 3882657, you added a 9. Thanks Bird!

I was told the same thing on speedtalk, also someone said a 2 bolt 327. Does your book say 2 bolt or 4?

 Actually it is 3892657. I replaced the 9 with an 8. You were right. Spark plug wires were in the way. You know me better than I know myself Bird. :friends:

3 sources say: 350ci/ 295hp 2 bolt out of a 67 Camaro.

MT denotes 350, the casting number is on 302 327 and 350 blocks. Should have trusted the seller.

Kind of lame than a cammed L48 won't make as much power as a stock 350 made a decade before it. Old stuff was better.

More compression, better cam, and different HP rating methods.
If it's all there, don't mess with it. Have Glen rebuild the carb, and I'll recurve the dizzy. Will make more than enough ponies for a 16' boat.

I'll bring it down in the Spring when I start working on it. But I've got the carb down.
