Clinging to my guns and religion in KCMO.
I was finishing up bleeding the brakes for a track day next week when I noticed that when I press on the brake pedal the clutch pedal moves a bit too. I'm assuming I've got some wear in the assembly. Anybody have a picture of the assembly to give me an idea of what I'm in for when I pull the dash apart? I've also got one of the lighter (stamped steel) column/pedal hanger brackets that I've been delaying putting in because I hate dealing with anything related to the dash and all the crap behind it, but this looks like an opportunity to kill two birds with one stone. This car used to have rock hard brakes with little pedal travel, but it looks like some of the current travel is related to pivot wear.

So, can anyone help me out with any pictures?

Thanks,
Mike

Here is a picture, not sure how helpful it is.

I hink what you are seeing is (my recall) that the cluch pedal has a pivot pin welded to it and the brake pedal pivots on that pin. The problem is they use paper thin nylon bushings to isolate the two. The shaft is usually rusted and the nylon turns to dust. It's pretty easy to rebuild and most of the vendors have the replacement bushings.

Thanks, Larry. Now I understand what's going on. It just didn't make sense earlier why the two pedals were "talking to each other".
Looks like I'll add this to my winter project list.

Thanks again!

Here's a few more photos of the assembly:

swapping the pedals was by far the most annoying part of the auto to manual conversion...
