Clueless In Sandland
When I eventually get to paint, I don't want to mask up around the side mirrors, door handles and locks, so yesterday I pulled those items from each door.
Passenger side was ok, but when I started on the driver's side, I found this:
I dunno where that weird bracket came from and I couldn't work out why it was there, until I got it out of the car and the siliconed-on stud, fell off!
You can see too how Bubba's enlarged the hole in the handle so that his home made piece will work
The other stud's still attached to the handle but they must have lost the nuts as that stud was just held onto the backet inside the door with more silicone!
Oh, the driver's side door lock was glued in and not actually connected to anything... :huh2:
Priceless! Once those parts were off the car, I managed to strip the door in about 10 minutes because poor preparation will ensure minimal adhesion!
Nice reflection in the shiny surface!
