Hey guys,
Had a quick questions, I want to run four headlights at all times, no high beam since I will be running HID's. However, I have encountered an issue hence the reason for starting this thread. I bought four low beam H4 bulbs that I can install an hid into but here is where I get an issue the bulbs are meant for low beams and I guess the shape of the low beam bulb doesn't fit in the high beam cup unless you turn the bulb sideways. Any ideas on how to make it so both of the bulbs are right side up? If not will the light be affected? Any and all answers will be greatly appreciated and respected.
Thanks in advanced.

There are HID H4 bulbs that have a mirror inside that switches between hi and lo beams. You can not turn the bulb sideways as they are lens shaped and you will bind everyone with it set up that way.

What do you mean w/ H4 bulb?? The easiest way is to buy 4 Hella H4 lenses and install your 4 HID low beams in there. You may need to trim the cups a bit as the notches for positioning the lenses may not be in the correct place. I remember I had to on mine.

I guess I must have not been too clear :mobeer: the Bulb housing I got takes an H4 bulb so I am going to run hids as the bulbs. I have come into an issue since I don't want to run one high beam lens and one low beam lens since the high beam will blind everyone with an hid installed. So I bought four low beam lens and didn't even think to run into this problem. Do you think if I turn the lens the belongs in the high beam location sideways it will affect the way the light comes out? How did you do yours?

I'm still not getting what needs turned, you mean turn the actual H4 lens not the HID burner?? You can simply modify the metal buicket so it ill fit, I did that too. The lenses have a pattern that spreads the beam in a specific pattern. E class ones spread it straight across the horizontal w/ a peak up on the right to illuminate road signs... looking like this: ___/

Yea I would be turning the H4 Lens only. The low beam lens lines go up and down so if I turn it sideways in the high beam location they would go left and right. You think that would be a real issue or would it just speard the light more?
Thanks again for helping me.

The high beam low beam buckets are the same, just the way they mount to the headlights is different. What's the down fall to mounting it sideways? I want to avoid cutting the buckets because they are all powder coated.

the downfall is that your projected beam is wrong, it'll bling oncoming traffic and you will fail inspection

I can't say about what you looking at, but maybe swap them right to left???

seems to me, something about that in the past....no better memory...sorry...

Pictures would help get us all on the same vocabulary/definition page.

I'm not sure why you're H4 bulbs do not fit into your H4 housings correctly? make sure your housing have a decent cutoff like the hella H4 housings do so you don't blind people with 4 HID's. :drink:

My H4 hella housing fit right in the stock housing with no modification. I did solder in some new ceramic H4 plugs. They plug up ok but I'm just uncomfortable with how tight the 90* plug with fits in there now.
