Ever seen one?? I haven't.....but since the spare is not on my car, I thinking of a fuel cell/something do able and cheep down lo, and using the top section for a trunk area....it's a convertible...anyone every try that??

my thing is about fabbing the support for the hinges and the framework for the cut out piece of plastic..plus the edge work necessary for water control....

maybe take some short muffs out the sides behind the tires, to make more room for gas tank??

:bonkers:

Stupid idea, gonna look like ass. Want trunk space? Buy something else. Even i you lower the tank, you have to have the filler neck stick up or move it elsewhere.

Isn't there room to make the t-top storage area deeper if you moved the tank.

It's a rag top, and now that I seriously look at the improbabilities of ME doing it, fuggetaboutit....

it was just a random thought while under the car, then a quick glance up top....

too much work, too little reward....

OK, another idea shot down in flames, somehow that Firebird light setup made me think it was one, then I had to look again...too bad there wasn't any lid....

but then again, looks where it is....pretty funny.....:hissyfit:

Storage Bin?

I thought about getting rid of the spare tire carrier too. Those that have removed it, usually put it back on due to looks and aeros.
I was thinking about having something fabbed up that uses the existing mounting points of the spare cover. It could be a sheetmetal box that would hold emergency equip or other seldom used items.
The problem might be road noise from a sheetmetal box? I'm sure something better than stk could be done? JMHO

My sentiments exactly. I am considering a classic convertible (musclecar) with a back seat and a trunk for some longer trips. The 'Vette just ain't cuttin' it with it's lack of storage space if'n I want to buy a souvenier along the way.

Gene, you got the Clamper (and the Miata), what do you need a trunk for?

I don't really want a trunk, just a thought/conversation/concept as for that extra space, I did a esentially bolt on extra 5 gallon fuel tank about two weeks ago....a 5 gal air tank from Harbor freight, modded it up for mounting under the stock tank and forward/up with two ~3" wide steel bars going forward to the spare mounts, and that cures my sloshing problems with FI....there IS extra room for some storage, and that's not a bad idea there, fab up a glass box with some aluminum bracing, and have storage for all sorts of shit....

I have wifey poo trained so we don't take more than carry on for a flight, or certainly for the vette....spent two weeks in SW/Santa Fe on carry on luggage alone, sent our stuff back via Fed Ex carried the souveniers/Indian pottery with us....same thing wit the vette....
