could a C4 90 dash fit in a 82? I would really like to keep all the nice features my 90 vette has like the climate control, fuel computer etc. But would the dash frame fit between the "a" pillar? Or is it just to wide ?? Or could a custom fiberglass version that is shrunk down a bit work and still be made to house all the electronics?

I would really like this since I have a 90 donor for suspension and engine and figure the dash would make it look nice.

Anyone know the distance between the insides of the "a" pillar and the inside of the "a" pillar to the centerline of the transmission tunnel?

probably not, much wider

is that CD player working? have a 90 o stock radio.... is it bose gold??

yes it is am/fm c/d cassette bose gold. ... I've never tried the c/d or cassette, it is actually a 93 radio with 90 buttons and faceplate.

I did the conversion after talking to doctordon and he said the 93-up has better electronics in it then the 90-92 radios. So I ordered new face plate and buttons from him.

here is what it was

I took the dash to my 82 today and without major work there is just no feasible way of making the 90 dash work in the 82 so guess I'm stuck with the 82 wiring and rest of stuff since the 90 seems like everything ties into everything and if one electronic part is missing it will have effects on others.

The good side is my 82 harness is in pretty good shape and doesn't appear to be butchered anywhere.

So guess I will just try adapting my cfi harness to run the tpi. This way I can keep the ecm in it's stock location.

Much as I love the c4 cooling capsule don't think that will work either. There is just no way the external radiator tank will fit up by my a/c evaporator box. that and the 82 radiator support doubles as fender and hood hinge support. So think I will keep the 82 radiator setup but run twin fans.

This is probably the best way to do it so I don't end up with a 82 that is electronically a nightmare. I know the 90 up vettes had issues with CCM and climate control issues and abs issues and air bag issues.

so just going to keep my 82 as simple as possible and do the suspension and engine swap. I am however going to add the digital gauges that I bought for the 82.

Did you see the tv show where they put an old GTO body on a new GTO undercarriage? basically the firewall and everything inside the car was kept from the donor car.... maybe you're just not cutting far enough out? keep the rockers, lower window channel and replace everything underneath.

Once they lowered the shell over the new frame, they simply made filler panels to make it fit together. I've seen the car in person, and they did a nice job (which surprised me).

nothing on the c4 body can be adapted to the 82 without major alterations, it is wider for one, its bird cage like the c3 is part of the uniframe where as the c3 bird cage is part of the body.
