Well, it's official : the financial system is breaking down on this side of the ocean. Greece is ending up in riots, unrest is getting bigger everyday here.

Today at my martial arts training we were discussing the situation. It's unbelievable how unanomus everybody is not in only in the club, but i mean really everywhere ; that things are going to get bad, really, really bad.

Our sensei was always considered to be a gun freak as well. He's got a whole arsenal of fire-arms. Enough to give each one of us at least 3 fire-arms and still have enough guns to last for a decade or more.
Anyway, discussion was all about joining together and defending ourselves in case things go south....

Tomorrow i'm going to register for a shooting club, a requirement for getting a fire-arm licence and in the next months i'm going to try and get several of those in my home. The wife won't like it, but better safe than sorry.

Don't like the idea, but it's been on my nerves for a long time here.

Looks like we are getting ready for war.

I have had small arms in my house for decades....make that 1/2 a century already....and so when NObam was looking like elected I went and bought my last weapon and plenty enough ammo....

I seriously plan on taking MANY of them with me.....MANY....

but I want to see the eyes first......just that way....

:banghead::bomb:

Thanks for the personal viewpoint. It's really kind of hard to get a feeling over here about how things are going. I think our news is kind of intentionally avoiding some of this so Americans don't get too nervous.
Then again, it could be just because I only watch about 1 hour of news a day.
But there are some of us that are speculating that it's going to get that bad there, and then we'll just be 6-12 months behind before we go the same way. As for your solution, I have made similar observations. I even have a tentative "battle plan" for my immediate neighbors if it were to go that bad.

You going to combine forces with them.......or shoot them???

I'm sorry but when i hear stuff like this i get a good laugh.

When Obama gets reelected i'm going to laugh so hard at the hard core corvette redneck radicals......i'm surre to piss myself. I'll probably get triple banned on CF. You ever do that? Laugh so hard a little bit of pee comes out. Just a little.

Dude, that's a FEMALE problem.

I do agree that our news is white washed and watered down for our benefit, it's called propaganda.
There is no way we can remain insulated from the world financial crisis. It is ours and we must embrace the reality. :crap:

Ya know, turtle, I get a giggle out of chuckleheads like you.
I have a plan with my neighbors, who I trust, in case of a "Katrina" like event. Or something worse, like civil riots.
Mark my words, chairman obama will not get reelected. As crooked as the left is, they can't cook this coming election enough to reinstall this despot. If, somehow, they orchestrate a coup (make no mistake, that's what it would be), we will be in for rough times the likes of which no living American has ever seen.

My friend, if your Sensei is a gun freak you're in the wrong Dojo.
Chill out, this is Europe, not USA, all what guns gonna bring you there is troubles.

Part of my family is Belgium, my teammate at work is Belgium, I know a little on the subjet.
Your country has been on the verge of explosion for decades, you've been running without an elected governement for almost a 1 years and a half, and you freak out just now?
Don't be fooled by fearmongers, things have been bad enough for a while (for all of us, not particulary Belgium), they won't turn to nightmare overnight.

To sum up, your wife is right.

No worries...be happy.....and continue to pee on yourself...but make sure to wear some dark pants- nobody will notice and you'll have a nice warm feeling!!!

FYI

"Please pass this on to all the other retired guys and gun owners...Thanks
From a Vietnam Vet and retired Police Officer:

I had a doctors appointment at the local V.A. clinic yesterday and found out something very interesting that I would like to pass along.

While going through triage before seeing the doctor, I was asked at the end of the exam, three questions:
1. Did I feel stressed?
2. Did I feel threatened?
3. Did I feel like doing harm to someone?

The nurse then informed me, that if I had answered yes to any of the questions, I would have lost my concealed carry permit as it would have gone into my medical records and the VA would have reported it to Homeland Security.

Looks like they are going after the vets first. Other gun people like retired law enforcement will probably be next. Then when they go after the civilians, what argument will they have? Be forewarned and be aware.

The Obama administration has gone on record as considering veterans and gun owners potential terrorists. Whether you are a gun owner veteran or not, YOU'VE BEEN WARNED !

If you know veterans and gun owners, please pass this on to them. Be very cautious about what you say and to whom."

That's why we probably haven't panicked before in this country in the first place.

This is not very reinsuring. They are scared as hell of veterans and not without reason. I have a couple of guys in the family that are ex-paracommando's with a known combat history in Zaire and neighboring countries. Nasty bunch if push comes to shuffle. They are scared of them. These are the types that can make nasty weapons and other things out of virtually nothing, know how to hide, how to survive etc.

Anyway, this country had an arms history. There are a lot more arms than they think, although they are mostly not registred. I bet it scares the hell out of them.
The senseis arms come from a lot of people that didn't want to go through the hassle of registring them. He got them for free. They are of course still not registred and well hidden.

Furthermore this is not an isolated thing. On several forums here people, even very educated people (...) say the same thing. Something is not right. I don't think they can keep it unter control, arms or not.

One of the reasons I didn't buy a gun was because of the wife and because of the kids. But something is bound to happen.

Anyway, one of the other things i'm doing is getting a fence around my land, getting some tools and stuff to make me survive it just a tiny little bit longer than the rest. I have the possibility to produce my own food, have got a couple of horses and other small farm animals. We can survive if necessary, but if you can't defend yourself they foxes are going to steal your chicken...

We need to be aware of to whom we speak about it, but the thing is you need others to survive, we cannot survive alone. This goes up for the intire western world as well imo.

The attitude of gov. towards civilians owning guns, at least here in NJ is negative. They only want the cops to have guns, everyone else is supposed to use popsicle sticks.

Years ago a friend of mine owned a restaurant, each night he would take home the money they made. He carried a gun that he owned legally. One night he got stopped for a traffic check, he told the officer that he had a gun in the car. The officer informed him that he could have the gun but it could not be loaded, that he had to keep the bullets in the trunk. My friend said to the cop, "Whattam I supposed to do If I get robbed, ask the bad guy, please wait one minute while I open the trunk and get my bullets so I can load my gun?" The cops reply was "yes".

DeeVeeEight,

Your law sounds similar to Ohio's, except! The cop may be wrong, when you are carrying cash you can carry a loaded gun. In your hand even!

An old friend used to own a really nice LARGE seafood restaurant in Bethesda Md, right outside DC....and his best friend was manager of the joint, killed straightaway for the day's receipts into the bank slot one night, just across the street.....

I have a friend that I grew up with, he still lives in our home town, Memphis, a true shit hole. Last year, he was making a late night run to the parts store trying to fix his car. He was at a stop light when he got pulled out of his car with a .45 pointed at his head. He was unarmed and not a cop in sight. The thieves stole his wallet and his car and he was fortunate to live to go home to his wife and kids.
When seconds count, cops are just minutes away.

Probably a really good thing he didn't have a gun. You John Wayne types think you can pull out a gun and shoot someone who already has a gun stuck in your ribs? Someone who already has the drop on you? Too much TV.

You really going to walk about looking at everyone as a potential attacker? I don't want my family walking around with gun toting nutjubs like that everywhere.

What's wrong with just giving them the shit and letting insurance buy you new?

Just wow. I probably should have told the Mrs the same thing earlier this year when she was surrounded by three guys in a Wal Mart parking lot. Should have just told her to not resist and let them take her car, or purse, or anything else they wanted to take. You're right I suppose.
But instead she pulled out her gun and told them to find another vicitm. I guess we'll just never know how much insurance would have given her for compensation for whatever they intended to do.

Let's say the guys were some meth addicts in full psychotic crisis, let's say seeing a drawn gun they'd unload theirs on your Mrs.
Then all the insurance money of the world couldn't bring her to life.
You've already being grinding at the edge of life, you should know how precious it is.

You guys can argue this successfully either way. No one can predict what would happen in a given situation. While I do not currently own or carry I would feel better if I had my own.

I've always heard for a home. Keep a a sawed off pump shotgun. When you need to pump that bad boy, they will know what's coming before they even see it. Everyone knows that sound. Hopefully they will leave rapidly! If not, walls are of no use to them.
