Over the years on various cars, I have rarely if ever seen a top that actually fit the car very well, and the one I have now is no exception....

do any of you know if it's possible to neatly stitch the side edge of a top canvas without removing it from the frame....I want to cut the edge stitching, and trim excessive material from the top, especially in the rear/top corner where it hits the side glass...when opening/closing the door....I have tried all that adjustment crap, and it's the top itself.....

The top on my C6 fits good :p

I assume you're talking about replacement (aftermarket) tops ???

Well nanner nanner nanner right back...the car is a '72, so obviously I am being critical of the St. Lousi assy line....gee the canvas seems to have sagged a tad....

You may have done this already but as I understand it, on C2 and C3 cars they recommend setting up the side glass nice to a hard top, then set up the bare convert top frame to the side glass and car and then install the top canvas

Yes, that is the way mine was done when I got the car, but I sold the hard top, the new canvas is made rong, flat out, but instead of being too small and allowing it to leak rain, it's too wide across the top, and so hangs over the top edge weatherstrip, and catches the top/rear glass corner....
