Mine is 1970 with the fold over retainers. So can I use Cool-it self sticking type stuff in the trans tunnel and maybe another layer under the center counsel to beat the heat? It's a friggin oven at this point!
Years ago when dropping the munice out of my '72and doing the automatic route, I removed one filthy greasy oil soaked mat of CRAP out of that tunnel, course it HAD been in there 25 years at that point....:devil:
but I was surprised on finding it, so did not replace it, wouldn't fit anyway....
so I insulated hell out of the topside made sure the shifter rubber boot is tight and secure, no leaks, and it's been fine....:smash: even in FLORIDA summers...
not that the headers help much with under hood heat.....
too boot my electric fans are angled down like the rad, so engine itself gets almost no airflow over it....
