A very good point, I always thought these deer crossings are dangerous :clobbered::huh::devil:

Damn deer here in Florida when on a date one evening in '98, ran out from in front of some damn minivan, in the left lane of a divided highway, square up in front of the '72 shark, took out both headlight assy's, went fixed lights after that, hated the fugly things anyway, but not one part was useful after that wreck......

so most of you know, deer in Florida are very small and about the size of a German Shepard......
Wife used to drive at night doing delivery routes once a week, payroll and company crap, for a chain store....hundreds of damn deer at night on them back country roads....made me nervous as hell.....

Decades ago, I side swiped a COW that came through off a field, waltzed right out as I was passing someone, no where to go, took out the entire left side of my Pontiac Grand Prix.....cowhide/fur hanging from the smashed RV mirror....I was SO pleased......

as for the deer, there are obviously too many of them and out come the guns and do a slo cook BBQ what the matter with folks???? simple solution.....

Incredible, and the worse part, she's serious...
I'll bet her husband thinks that she's a keeper!

SHE IS, tired of getting her shit screwed up by some roaming wild animal....

so just WHAT is more important?? HER and her JOB/LIFE/VEHICLE or some wild animal that needs step aside???

what if it was your wife into the weeds with all sorts of untold damages to her and the car?? on a constant basis.....???

now GRANTED she did not express it well enough, but those damn deer are a traffic hazard, and hunting season needs expanded.....CASE CLOSED@@@@!!

:trumpet:

Youre right again Gene, they should move those signs where theres less traffic!
And if FL has too many of those not strategicaly placed ''deer crossings'' and youre that serious about your JOB/LIFE/VEHICLE you should invest in one of those things.

really? you think deer abide by signs and will cross the street a little further down the road if the sign is moved? The woman on the phone is too dumb to think straight, she should not be driving hell.. she should be put into a mental institute for the safety of her surroundings

You know Marck, maybe they are onto something here...
I've been hunting deers and moose for years, I've spent days and even weeks in the woods and never saw any ''deer or moose signs'' anywhere.

It takes me a loooong time to see one and shoot it.

Now beeing a truck driver and crissed crossed the US and Canada, each time I saw a sign ... theeerrree's a deer!

Soooo maybe they should put those signs in less traffic area .....:mobeer::mobeer::mobeer::mobeer::mobeer:::

Some people should know that meds and booze dont mix well!LOL

Oh and by the way Gene, IF it was my wife into the weeds with all sorts of untold damages to her and the car?? on a constant basis.....I would make sure she dont touch ANY motorized vehicule for a while!

closest I came to hitting a deer was about a mile before the "watch for deer" sign... so I can attest they either can't read or they're psychopaths.

I was raised in cattle country, and knew several people who (individually) hit a cow in their car.... 1500 lbs of weight raised 18" off the ground.... the cow just clears the bumper and goes straight through the window of most small cars. Honestly, I'd rather hit a deer - less mass

Along Alligator Alley, there are a few dozen tunnels built for panther and deer. On 75 there is a fully landscaped overpass for wildlife.

Seriously?? cute, ....one day we going down that way to Key West and up the west coast on rt 98.....maybe climb Mt.Dora again catch some fleas....

When we got the motor home, it had a crash bar in front of the grill, smaller but same gig as shown above, good enough for a Florida deer, but not those big suckers like up north....I took it off as we not be night driving, hell with that.....

What I"m saying is, if there are THAT many deer up there, that are obviously a traffic hazard, it's time to thin the heard long since, obviously, but all the weenies make it impossible.....

it's ironically funny how it works - don't kill Bambi, until they see pictures of them dehydrating in a drought.... then it's "manage the herd"

in the space and time I grew up, it was mostly revenge to kill a deer. Deer tastes okay, but it tastes really good when it was the deer that laid down in the corn that you spent all summer weeding and watering was just about ready to harvest.

This is not true. the weenies are not preventing people from taking more deer. Here in Mo you can buy all the antlerless deer tags you want. The problem, where are you going to hunt if you dont own land,or have family and friends with land? I know lots of people who gave up hunting because they have no where to go. So you see,it's regular folks that are preventing more deer from being harvested, because they will not allow access on their land for hunting. Has nothing to do with Weenies.

this is personal experience, and you did strike a nerve

I could keep you for hours with stories of the things people we let on our land did to our land, our animals, our vehicles, and our buildings... while yes, we'd love to manage the herd, in the end the deer cause less damage

exactly. i do let some on my land to hunt, but they are friends,or one of my neighbors who's land is next to mine, and we hunt on each others land all the time. other than that,i wont let others hunt on it. and it's usually people from the city that do all the damage.

I wish there was a common thread that I could use to tell which ones were going to be bad... but they all are, bow hunters on up... the city folks are great, except their idea that cows are simply slow elk is a bit annoying... oh, and their other idea that $100 covers their kill of a cow (the kind that go "mooo")

or the bow hunter that shot my yellow trencher (got the tank, which was a pretty good shot, in retrospect)...

anyway, I love living in the city now, my family does the ranch (still) but the no hunting signs stay up.... which, of course, pisses the hunters off to no end (how dare I exclude them - "the other guys are the problem... " the brain trust who said that I responded to with this quip "ah, so why, exactly, do you have one of my 'no hunting' signs in your hand?" I told him he could go away mad or mad with holes... I didn't rightly care :bounce:

good times :cussing:

BLM no longer asks.... it's actually kind of funny (Bureau of Land Management tries to get land opened for hunters) - they stop asking me after the cow incident

did you not watch the video with the smart lady? all you need to do is put a "deer crossing" sign up and wait.... that's how we smart people hunt.... LOL
