Is deshrouding the intake valves to the bores worth the effort ?

You can not realistically unshroud the bore, you can unshroud the chamber. Only (some) big blocks have a notch on the top of the cyl. bore to unshroud the valve.
Anything to increase flow is always worthwhile.

Sorry my mistake : unshroud the chamber to the diameter of the bores. I use a 4.165" bore, so I have some room there.
