The car has been down for almost 6 months on a max 2 month project. Life got in the way. Finally got it up & going again and damn if the fuel guage don't work. Reads empty. Shit. Don't wanna pull that dashboard back apart or chase down electrical gremlins, I just wanna run it. I was so careful!!
But I start through the 'procedure': several days, many hours going over it in my head & in the car---check fuses, trace schematics and check connections Fluke in hand, finally about to disassemble the dash again when a dim 15 watt bulb lights in my head....
"Check the gas tank, dummy."
I open the filler and as I peer into the empty tank I remember (the bulb glows to 20 watts now) "Oh yeah, I siphoned the gas tank before I started this! It's empty!!"
Go get 4 gallons of gas, pour it in, and Hallaluyah!!! The fuel guage works now!!!
