I am in need of a new fan/fans in my car. What would be my best route. My current fan was on the car when I bought it. The options I am considering are use a Taurus fan from the junk yard or a pair of Imperial brand fans I already have. One is 12" and the other is 14".

What way would give me the best results?

How would you go about mounting/shrouding the Imperial fans if going that route.

I have a 69 with a 71 LS5 454 in it. I live in tucson, AZ. I chose the Mark VIII fan over the taurus one. The Mark VIII is, I think, a bit bigger. I install the Mark fan and used no shroud at all on my radiator. There is only an inch or so on each side of the radiator that is not covered. I'm running 2 constant duty solenoids for each of the 2 speeds. One is key on for low, the other is split between the A/C switch, and the temp sensor in the head. Works like a chamo for me.

Had I known of BBT's Lincoln fan there years ago, I would probably have gone that route, but since I didn't I used the Dual Spals, I think with my stock '89 F body radiator, single row aluminum core in there, I need all the extra airflow I can get with it....and it works here in Florida....

I set mine up with a full shroud tied to cross supports mounted between the rad mount tabs/U brackets, so the rad does not support the fans at all....the fans matched close enough with some house roof flashing added on to form a complete shroud...and a door weatherstrip/sweep for the rubber across the top...

I've read a few threads that say the Lincoln MKVIII fans pull more air than other car fans.
I used one out of a 90's Z-28 Camaro for mine. I did some cutting on my original shroud, as it was chewed up anyway. I used the top of the camaro sheild on my vette to mount the top of the fan, and bolted the bottom brackets to the original shroud. It's been keeping my Vette cool so far!

I did similar with stock shroud and a '87 vette fan, but reality check was that in FLORIDA SUMMER the temps off the roads are 140 easy in the traffic/sunshine.....need AIRFLOW, finally got off some bux and got the Spals on there.....improved highway and traffic cooling a LOT....
