The other thread is concerning a BBC, I suppose, and TT replied, and so it left lots of questions for me..concerning SBC,

somehow I find it strange that there is a 10+F difference between the cyl head temp verified on the driver's side head fitting, and what the computer says at the t-stat housing....this even during a summer freeway drive at 2500 rpm, seems that water is pretty busy under there, and I can't believe a 10f+ temp drop....

too boot, I have the typical TPI style rear crossover passage tap into the pump suction side on the heater return line....

so what are the reasons?? and have I done all I can do for a legit temp reading and keeping engine at decent performance??

my reply was for both SBC & BBC, only major diff between the BBC and SBC is that the BBC has an external anti cavitation hose, the SBC has an internal passage in the pump, pass. side under the bolt hole.

You are worrying about something that isn't really a problem.

CASE CLOSED....

guess I need get the fans to turn on lower than the 210 or so they do now...

I have two water temp sensors on my SBC, one at the thermostat and one at the pass side head.. at the head it's running at least 10* cooler... maybe nothing to worry about but interessting for sure...
I remember Turtle asking me if there was a difference between the two locations when he saw that I installed AutoMeter gauges...
